When Chevrolet unveiled their SSR concept at the 2000 Detroit Auto Show, most observers assumed that the stunning design was just another oneoff dream machine that would never see production. After refining a few details like moving the mirrors and adding side markers, Chevy shocked everyone and released the Super Sport Roadster. Recalling Chevrolet's popular 19471953 pickup trucks, the SSR's bulbous fenders required special deepdraw steel and a special manufacturing process, but the resulting appearance is well worth the effort.
