If this is the first time to the channel, there are over 100 videos of teardowns, with a wide array of engine type and failures. I post a new teardown every Saturday evening!
WOW is all I can say. This J35Z2 from a 2009 Accord EX sedan may very well go down in channel history. The Kia V6 from a couple weeks ago was really terrible, but is this one worse? Honda's typically do everything a Kia can, just better, but does that include blowing up? The J series V6 has been around since the midlate 90's and is a very well liked engine however not all J series are considered to the same. J series engines with VCM or variable cylinder management have known oil consumption problems that lead to fouled plugs, and ultimately reringing the rear cylinders to repair. The trouble isn't with the rings as they use the same rings front and rear, it has to do with VCM as the rear bank is the "deactivated" bank of cylinders and thus the problem bank. I think a lot of the issues come down to maintenance and owners who change their oil regularly and monitor oil level are much less likely to encounter problems. This teardown may be one of the worst I ever see.

Why am I doing this? I own a full service auto salvage business in the Saint Louis area, and part of our model is dismantling core or bad engines to salvage the good parts. These engines come from shops, dealers, other salvage yards and sometimes our own customers(and viewers too!). We do not rebuild engines, merely supply parts to those that do.

I hope you enjoyed this teardown! As always, I love all of the comments, feedback and even the criticism.
Catch you on the next one!!
