Power Brake Assist Failure is discussed in this video. We have a 2015 Silverado LYZ with the 5.3 v8 engine. This hidden failure was found on the Silverado after a routine service was performed and the vehicle was being pulled out of the shop. While braking the brake pedal became hard and a service brake assist warning message was displayed. TSB #PIT5361D: Diagnostic Tip Additional Brake Pedal Effort was referenced and a diag was performed on the condition. It was found that the engine's belt driven vacuum pump was faulty casing low vacuum at the brake booster and loss of power brake assist.
