The Norwegian Forest Cat is distinguished by his long, thick, and attractive coat, as well as his huge stature. The head is shaped like an inverted triangle, with a tip at the chin and a broadening on either side up into the medium to big, highly tufted ears. Although white cats may have blue or strange eyes, their large, almondshaped eyes are green, gold, or copper.

The Aby is reported to look as though he just strolled out of the wilderness. This is due to his ticking coat pattern, which is similar to that of wild cats such as cougars. Each hair shaft in a ticked coat has alternating bright and dark bands of color. Everything about him implies that he is a dynamic, attentive person.
