I recently received a Ryobi Dethatcher Scarifier from the UK via Amazon. This unit is coming soon to the United States as the P2740 from Home Depot!. This is part of the 18V ONE+ line, but uses TWO 18V batteries, for extended run time.

Unlike the upcoming US version, the UK version does not come with any accessories. shipped standard with the scarifying (verticutter) blade, I wanted the power raking blade, which unfortunately was on back order for some time. After three months of waiting it finally arrived, and I could not wait to try it out. Coincidentally the timing was perfect for my fall season dethatching in preparation for overseeding, fertilizing, and top dressing the lawns!

I was able to dethatch/scarify my entire front yard, which is a little over 1,500 square feet, on one pair of 6ah batteries, and two pairs of 3ah batteries to finished the boulevard strip, side yard, and backyard lawns.

The power rake is very efficient, easier to use than the scarifying blade, and does not dig as deep, so the unit works a little easier, which in turn gives you longer battery run times. This is my go to blade now.

I was also able to run the unit with the back flap in the up position to see if it made a difference on the performance. It definitely spread the thatch out, and made it easier to pick up with the bagging lawn mower, but there were definitely some times when I was showered in dirt and grass in some of the drier impacted areas.
