NEW! A5567741 Sam | Pharaoh Hound Mix

United Hope for Animals

#A5567741 Sam is a demure 1 year old golden spayed female Pharaoh Hound mix who was surrendered by her owner to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on July 17. Weighing 44 lbs Sam is a smart and attentive girl who is a little shy on first meeting. She’s intimidated in the noisy shelter environment and doesn’t know why she’s here, but once she trusts her handler Sam’s gentle personality shines. She will offer her paw and walks pretty well on leash. With other dogs she is tolerant and non reactive, but in her kennel Sam doesn’t show well as she’s defensive, just trying to hide. This sensitive girl needs out of this busy place and into a home where she can relax and put this experience behind her. Sam also needs some good nutrition as she’s a bit underweight, so getting lots of treats while she’s getting basic training will be totally fine for her. The shelter is requiring that any kids in the home are middle school aged or older, since small kids might not understand her need to go slow and take a little time to meet new people. With a patient kind person to show her she’s safe, Sam will blossom into a big hearted, loyal and devoted girl for a lifetime of love.

Our Mission:

United Hope for Animals is dedicated to reducing homelessness among companion animals through spay/neuter, shelter support, photography, video and networking of shelter animals in Southern California. It is an allvolunteer, nonprofit organization working to end homelessness among companion animals by supporting shelter adoptions and spay/neuter programs. Through our Shelter Support Program, our volunteers photograph and video shelter pets to increase their chances of adoption significantly. Our volunteer Adoption Coordinators help facilitate adoptions of shelter pets. United Hope for Animals supports rescue, spay/neuter and networking of shelter pets to increase their chances of adoption. UHA is not a shelter, but supports shelters to help increase visibility of animals who might not otherwise be seen.
