Over the past year, I've been pretty transparent about the worst performing investment in my portfolio. Medical Properties Trust is currently my biggest loser in terms of percentage lost, not total dollar amount. This REIT has been battling a couple of big issues over the past couple years, including one of their largest investments, Steward Healthcare, which is still suffering from COVIDera financial issues. Then there's also been the ongoing attacks on their stock by short sellers. Much like Gamestop, AMC and Trump Media, where we've seen large groups of investors pumping tons of money into them to drastically raise their prices, people have been doing the exact opposite with MPW by short selling it. At one point, MPW was one of the most shorted stocks in the entire stock market, right up there with companies like Carvana and Tattooed Chef, which, I'd argue, were suffering from far more dire situations.
