Motorcycle Dog Box Transmission Display - Theory and Operation

Follow
Tommy

Another video where I ramble on about some of the technical aspects of a dog box transmission.

**Correction: Mixed up the steels and frictions in terms of what component splines with what steels spline with the inner hub, frictions spline with the outer basket. Despite the whoops on my part, the process still works the same. In my defense, this is a transmission from one of my older race bikes and I don't have the frictions/steels anymore. ;)

Note: When I'm discussing synchromesh transmissions, I should've clarified that the gears they use are helical when I'm talking about the thrust/axial forces generated. Either way, hope you enjoy the video!
