Montu - Inverted Roller Coaster | Front Seat 4K POV | Busch Gardens Tampa | 2023-07-07

The Coaster Voyager

The ultimate inversion challenge for enthusiasts! Ride 150 feet into a twisting drop, giant vertical loop, Immelman loop, and finally, zeroG roll. It is my favorite roller coaster of this type due to its use of forceful trenches and tunnels.

Montu is an inverted roller coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay in Tampa, Florida. Designed by Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard, it is the park's second roller coaster designed by that company following the success of Kumba, which opened 3 years prior.

Did you know?
Montu was the world's first roller coaster to incorporate an Immelmann element.
It is the first roller coaster of this type to include seven inversions.
The roller coaster formerly contained a pit with live crocodiles. It was located underneath the first turn out of the station to the right before the lift hill. Later, the crocodiles were relocated. To the present day, the enclosure remains vacant and unused.
The ride's midcourse brakes strength was light and did not have a trim brake before the batwing element before they added it and later adjusted the strength of the brakes due to the gforces being too intense and strong.
During its opening in 1996, it was the tallest and fastest inverted roller coaster in the world until a roller coaster of the same type, Alpengeist, was constructed and opened in 1997 at a sister park Busch Gardens Williamsburg, earning the record for the tallest and fastest inverted Bolliger and Mabillard coaster.
