In this video we walk around Trondheim City Center. All those points of interest is located right next to a popular walking route outlining the city center.

In this video I show several tourist attractions in the city:

Munkholmen: An island about 2 km straight out from mainland. The island have a rich story and have been used for many different purposes. Fortress, monastery, defence facilities and prison. Today you can take a boat out there, and you can find a restaurant and nice places to rest in the sun.

Trampe the bicycle lift: Trampe is the first of its kind. It is a lift for people on bicycles, and can take you and your bike up a steep hill 130 meters up. It was first built in 1993, and then rebuilt in 2013. Unfortunately it is currently closed down for maintenance.

The Old town bridge: Todays bridge was finished in 1861. For the sake of traffic, the bridge was expanded in 1967 and the lifting mechanism was put out of action. The lifting device was attached to two romantically designed portals nicknamed the "Portal of happiness". In 2016 the bridge was closed completely for motorized traffic.

Nidarosdomen Cathedral: The building of Nidarosdomen started in year 1070 and was finished in all its beauty around year 1300. The cathedral is built over the tomb of St.Olav, the Viking king who brougth Christianity to Norway. After several fires and lack of maintenance in the Middle Ages, the cathedral was in a very poor condition.

In 1869 extensive restorations were begun, and today the cathedral is again restored to its original grandeur. The restauration has so far taken 150 years, and there are still about 30 craftsmen working with different projects.

However, it’s been said that the cathedral will never be 100% complete. To symbolize this, there is one sculpture called “the mason”, which are holding one brick in his hand. It’s been said that when the final brick is in place, the whole cathedral and city will slide into the ocean.

There are several guided tours available, where you can climb 172 stairs up in the winding tower before stepping out in open air to enjoy the amazing panoramic view over the city center. You can also walk the stairs down to see the crypts and caves.
