Memories of Mom's Taste Beef & Potatoes Stew /
Ofukuro no Aji Nikujaga Ryōri no Kihonhen 3

[ 4 Servings ]
[ Ingredients ]
Potato 2 pieces ( 300gm )
Carrot 1/3 piece ( 100gm )
Onion 1 piece
Konnyaku ( Shirataki ) noodle 1 bag ( blanched & rinse in water )
Snow peas 12 pieces ( blanched )
Sliced beef 250gm
[ Seasonings ]
Sugar 1 teaspoon
* it's OK without add in sugar !
Sake 1 tablespoon
Dashi stock or water 500cc
* the flavors will soak in ingredients, it's OK to pour in water !
Sake 4 tablespoons
Mirin 2 tablespoons
Sugar 1 tablespoon
Soy sauce 4 tablespoons
* adjust to the taste of liking !
[ Method ]
1. Cut the potatoes into quarters, smooth the edge of potatoes & soak in water.
* if the pieces have sharp edges then they are likely to break into pieces during the cooking process from bumping into each other !
2. Carrot diagonal cut.
3. Onion finely sliced.
4. Konnyaku ( Shirataki ) noodle cut in to bitesized.
5. Sliced beef cut into bitesized, season with sugar & sake, set aside.
* meat will become soft marinade with sugar !
* it can add flavor to the sake !
6. Heat oil into frying pan over mediumhigh heat, add in carrot & stir fry until lightly colored, add potatoes & Konnyaku noodles.
7. Add Dashi stock, add sliced beef when almost boiling.
8. Once boiling skim off the scum, add seasonings, cover & cook over low heat for 6~8 minutes.
9. Make sure carrot are cooked through, adjust the flavor & add snow peas.
