Meditation and Visualization for Globus Sensation Relief and Throat Sensations

Welcome to this guided meditation for globus sensation relief. Globus sensation, also known as the feeling of a lump in your throat can be a distressing experience, often linked to GERD, stress, anxiety, or an irritation in the lining of the esophagus. Some people may find they have difficulty swallowing, and it impacts their life significantly.

I created this meditation after receiving a heartfelt message from someone sharing their struggles with globus sensation. The reason she reached out to me is that they (like so many other people) do not feel seen by the medical world.

Globus sensation is the uncomfortable and scary sensation of having something stuck in your throat. But it's a functional disorder, which means there’s nothing physically in your throat and there is no disease but nevertheless the sensation is there. And having the feeling of something being stuck in the throat can stop you from wanting to eat, causing further medical issues.

Even though health websites don't always talk about it when listing anxiety symptoms, it's a real problem. That's why it's important to recognize that all symptoms matter, even the ones caused by anxiety or that aren't visible.

Through this meditation, I invite you to try soothing your symptoms by calming your mind. You can use the following timestamps to find the section you want if you don't have time for the full meditation.

TIMESTAMPS
00:00 Welcome to this meditation
00:30 Breathing exercise
01:59 Body scan
09:40 Visualization
20:50 Affirmations

As you allow yourself to relax into this medical meditation, you will be guided through deep breathing exercises to help you connect with your breath and center yourself in the present moment. And using a body scan you will relax every muscle, cell and sensation in your body.

Through gentle prompts and soothing imagery, you will be encouraged to explore the sensations in your throat with curiosity and compassion. Rather than resisting or pushing away the discomfort, you will be invited you to acknowledge it with kindness and acceptance, allowing it to gradually soften and fade away.

Throughout the meditation, you will be guided to envision yourself in a peaceful natural setting, surrounded by calming sounds and sensations that promote relaxation and wellbeing.

As the meditation progresses, you may notice a sense of ease spreading throughout your body and mind. Embrace this feeling of relief and let it wash over you, knowing that you have the power to cultivate a sense of peace and comfort within yourself.

This meditation and visualization is a tool that you can return to whenever you need help with the symptoms of globus sensation. With regular practice, I hope it helps you find relief and relaxation, even when life gets tough.

Be well, be calm,
❤ Clare

I research, write, narrate and edit free Guided Meditation videos for people who are suffering with chronic illnesses. I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2004 but was creating relaxation resources for my clinical clients even before that (using a tape recorder ).
