Masterson Method technique for releasing tension in the horse's stifle

Follow

The Stifle Point is one of the Hind End Points that can be beneficial to work on. This point has the effect of relaxing the muscles that pull on the stifle and is situated in a soft indentation on the inside of the horse's upper leg in the stifle area. This influences the deeper muscles of the back end as well as the groin muscles. Releasing tension at this point will help the stifle maintain a healthy range of motion. It's crucial to look for this point with a very delicate touch; use airgap pressure until the horse blinks, then stay until he gives a release response. Watch Jim's video for instructions on how to do this technique.

Be careful! Keep an eye on the ears and stop if they flatten back because certain horses might be extremely sensitive in this area. To ensure that the horse is comfortable with you working on this spot, make sure you have worked on the other Hind End Points before this one.
