Mark Duplass returns to Sundance with a 30minute pilot about a 16yearold (Megan Stott) who leaves her family to live in the wilderness. Duplass and producing partner Mel Eslyn, who took the creative leap to cowriterdirectorshowrunner with “Penelope,” stopped by the IndieWire Studio, presented Dropbox, to discuss the inspiration for their series, why they needed to go the indie route of funding all 8episodes themselves, and how the collaborated with Stott and Abrams in creating a very different portrayal of teenagers than what we see on TV.
