We inherited a third generation cat tree from friends who moved, and decided to update it to suit our cats (and style!) We didn't have to buy anything at allwe used a leftover piece of another cat pole, old curtains that don't fit our house's windows, and mattress protectors we received that don't fit our mattresses.
