LIFE IN BASILAN I'M BACK ONE YEAR LATER.

I first came here last June, and loved it so much that I came back a month later.

This time around, I spent one and a half days trying to really understand how life is in 2023, with lots of different explorations around Isabela City, the island's largest.

From MarangMarang, whose women's association is rapidly developing with a new floating cottage and a thriving weaving industry, to the former JW Strong/American Rubber/BF Goodrich rubber plantation in Barangay Baluno that's now under a cooperative, to seeing old friends on the boulevard, to Isabela City's public market on bagsakan day (products are brought from the nearby mountains to the city every Sunday) to a localstyle lunch on Block 4 beach these were such great experiences.

Isabela City I love its diversity, its vibrancy, and its openness.
