We got bloody kidnapped in Kurdistan!

Today we tried to hitchhike from Soran to the beautiful canyon town of Rawanduz here in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Pretty much instantly we got picked up by the police and taken to the next town where we got out to check out a viewpoint at the bottom of the canyon.

From here we started walking to Rawanduz when a car blasting Kurdish music stopped and said get in! No good story ever started by saying no to such an offer so in we got and the adventure began.

We drove at 100mph, music blasting, making snapchats and eating ice creams until we ended up at an empty home in the middle of nowhere.

Our new friends were building a house in the mountains and invited us to sit and share some mountain dew, sunflower seeds and homemade kleicha.

Next we were back in the car and driving through some of the most incredible landscapes we've ever seen. At one point we stopped, got out the car, turned the music up and did a bit of Kurdish dancing in the middle of the road, only in Kurdistan eh.

The day wasn't over yet, our new friends invited us into their home where we met the whole family.
We then spent the night together chatting, eating home cooked food and getting a bit silly dancing in the living room.

To end the night we all ate rewaz together which was an interesting one for sure.

It got pretty late and we had now been with our kidnappers for like 12 hours so we said our sad goodbyes and father drove us home to our hotel.

This is bloody Kurdistan!
