Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways

In this video we have our 1st visit of the year to The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway during their Spring Steam Gala.

We review 2 days of the gala the Friday & Saturday of the event.

The visiting locomotive of the event was The Great Western Railway Society's large prairie 262 tank 4144 from Didcot Railway Centre.

Also in action were KWVR's resident mainline locos in the line's own LMS Black 5 45212 who was making her final few steaming days on the line before venturing back on the mainline for the 2020 season & The Bahamas Locomotive Society's LMS Jubilee 45596 Bahamas.

We start on Day at Haworth MPD as the loco's are being prepared for the days work.

We head up the line to get 4144 on the demonstration gds as she passes by from Keighley with the nonstop gds to Oxenhope on a beautiful frosty & sunny morning.

We head to Ingrow West to see the arrival of resident S160 5820 Big Jim arrive from Keighley.

Here we join the A set of coaches for 2 round trips behind a 3 locos which was planned to ride behind on Day 1 of our visit.

The 1st loco we ride behind was 45596 Bahamas from Keighley to Oxenhope with 6 coaches in tow.

This was the 1st time I've had proper haulage behind the jubilee since her return to steam back in the Autumn of 2018 without another loco for company.

Bahamas performed magnificently over the 5 mile line to Oxenhope.

During the trip we pass large prairie 4144 at Damems loop as we did earlier as we headed to Keighley.

Sure enough we arrived at Oxenhope as a marvoulous run.

During our trip back to Keighley we stopped at Damems Loop to allow the nonstop express run to pass double headed by 5820 Big Jim & 45212 on the B set of coahes which included the ex Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway saloon.

At Keighley we see Taff Vale tank 85 depart with the shuttle to Ingrow West just as 4144 backs down onto our train.

4144 was joined by resident Mickey Mouse Ivatt 262 tank 41241 for the next on board run we did on Day 1.

Soon it was time to go as we departed for Oxenhope once again with 41241 & 4144.

During this double header that was my 1st ride behind the large prairie which I should have done last season when she was on season hire to The Severn Valley Railway.

During our final trip of the day back to Keighley we pass the stanier duo in 45212 & 45596 Bahamas at Damems Loop.

We end day 1 of this video at Keighley seeing 2 services up the bank out of Keighley.

We 1st see 5820 depart with the shuttle to Ingrow West. Following the impressive departure despite the frost earlier in the day Big Jim set a lineside fire on the embankment which did bring out the fire brigade.

Before the fire brigade turned up & despite the fire on the embankment which from were I was standing the fire nearly burnt itself out 85 & 4144 were given the go ahead to head to Oxenhope which is were we end Day 1 of this video.

We move onto Day 2 & a more relaxed one filming from the lineside starting at Oxenhope then working our way down as far as Oakworth & 2 station shots at Ingrow West.

We start at the Oxenhope end of the line as we see ex MR 4f 43924 top & tailing with BR Standard 2 78022 on the demonstration gds.

We move to nearby Haworth the same spot were we got 4144 on the gds to previous day to get 45596 Bahamas on the 2nd passenger run of the day from Keighley.

We move further along the line to see Bahamas return to Keighley but this time with 4144 for company before seeing 43924 head for Oxenhope.

We head to Ingrow West to see 78022 arriving to terminate with the shuttle from Keighley before seeing the nonstop express just like on day 1 double headed but this time with 41241 & 43924.

We end this video with the best till last at a new lineside location for me as we see 2 trains pass by.

1st seeing 4144 & 78022 double heading to Oxenhope from Keighley.

We end with 45596 Bahamas as she heads for Oxenhope.

The Spring Gala was fantastic a gd selection of locomotives in action with interesting combinations of locomotives double heading, fantastic gds train demonstraions.

A big thank you to the volunteers & the event planners of The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for putting on a great event probably the best ever.

Here's to 2021.
