Monogamous parents and sibling cubs of Japanese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes viverrinus, family Canidae) alternately roamed around the secondary forest and dropped by the deserted sett of Japanese badger (Meles anakuma, family Mustelidae) during the daily/nightly foraging trip. They sometimes checked out and sniffed at the entrances of deserted burrows but they seldom dared to enter. You can faintly hear them calling (whining and grunting) from time to time. Captured from two angles with my old and new trailcams day and night of mid and lateAugust 2023 in Japan.
