The Japanese Chin.

This little cutie is the very definition of a lapdog. Loving a warm position on her owner as much as she loves a bit of rough and tumble. A great companion, she may never leave you alone, she’s also a sensitive little thing and very eager to please.


Friendly to anyone or anything she meets, her gentle and playful nature makes her the perfect companion for children, as long as they’re gentle with her. Her small and lively ways have often earned her comparison to cats, no more so than her penchant to have a bit of a climb.


Easy to have around and look after, she gets all the exercise she needs from a short walk or a game with her owner around the home. Hot humid weather doesn’t really suit her, neither does the cold, with either extremes aggravating her tendency to wheeze at times. She’s a lover of all things cosy, and things that stimulate her inquisitive nature.


Interesting facts: The Japanese Chin actually originates from China, having been a favourite of the Chinese aristocracy. How she found her way to Japan is unknown; presents to the Japanese emperor, journeys across Asia with a Korean Prince and companions of Zen Buddhist teachers are just a few of the many theories!
