James Bradley grew up near the beach in Adelaide, and like many Australians, his earliest memories involve the sea.

He has long been fascinated with the ocean: Why does Earth have so much water while other planets do not? Where did all this water come from in the first place? And how is human history reflected in the sea?

For James, the ocean is the connective tissue that holds all life on Earth together.
