My lathe came with a fourway toolpost as standard issue, it was okay to use, but some of the clamping bolts were stripped and I had to constantly stack up feeler gauges as shims this was okay for the carbide tooling, but every time I sharpened my HSS tools, I'd need different shims. What I did like about the fourway post was that it had an indexing pin so I could rotate it easily to get the tool oriented how I wanted.

At one stage I actually gave in, bought a wedgetype toolpost, and then the global shipping chain went to heck and I got the toolholders but not the toolpost. So I decided to make my own based roughly off of the Aloris dimensions to fit the holders I had.

I'm very happy with this toolpost, the fit of the parts seem to be just right and so it takes only a little pressure to lock down rigidly. It works with the commercially bought holders. If you guys want plans, I'm thinking of making an affordable build pack with drawings and build notes and possibly even a more indepth video if that's necessary. Let me know if you'd be interested
