A "bower" is the name of the shortterm love nest of the great bowerbird, a species found in Australia and New Guinea. Built by males, its only function is to attract females for mating. Each bower is unique to its creator and the elaborate structure is often embellished with bright colored objects. Stones, bones, snail shells but also plastic objects like bottle caps.
