In Hollywood, injections with, for example, Ozempic and WeGovy are the talk of the town. Whether you're Elon Musk, Oprah, a Kardashian or Amy Schumer, they've all tried to find a shortcut to weight loss. And it is true that semaglutide (the active ingredient in such medications) causes you to eat less. But is it the solution for everyone? In this video, internistendocrinologist and coauthor of the book 'Fat is important' Liesbeth van Rossum (Erasmus MC) will talk you through why losing weight never starts with an injection. Because obesity and overweight are much more complicated. And if you don't know where it comes from, you can't get rid of it with just an injection (yoyo effect, anyone?).
