As we have commented in previous posts about Sicily, driving in the main cities of the island is a challenge, the traffic is terrible. That said, once you leave the big cities, EVERYTHING IS EASIER. The roads that ascend Etna (specifically to the Rifugio Sapienza – 1,920 meters above sea level) are in very good condition.
