Whether you have a Vermihut or not this is how you can build a successful Worm Bin. I start with presoaked shredded cardboard & inoculate it with some worm castings from another bin. You can also use a handful of soil from the ground or a handful of regular compost to get your bin teaming with microbes. Next put down your food and add your worms if it is your first bin, or just set this bin on top of your previous layer if you are adding on to your vertical system.

I started this VermiHut with 2000 worms but you can start with 5001000 and see excellent results as well. Even 200 worms will work (much slower) but be sure to feed much smaller feedings than you see me feed in this video!
