Paddy's DIY How To Replace The Spring Cassettes In Door Handles
Another great instructional video brought to you by Paddy's DIY

in this video i'm going to show you how to replace the springs in a door handle.

Before i get started i just want to point out that not every door handle is going to have these spring built in to them. It will depend on the type of door lock and handles that are in your door. For example some door locks will contain the spring that keeps the door handle up inside the lock itself and doesn't require sprung door handles. So if your door handle is drooping down and they door handles doesn't have springs, most likely the spring inside the lock is broken.

But do check your door handles as i have seen loads of door handles that are made to take these spring cassettes but have none fitted.
And lastly i just want to say sorry for the video it's a lot more shaky than usual.

Ok so here is the door handle, that's drooping down. Remove the two screws holding the handles. You can see there are spring cassettes installed in these handles and the centre of both of them are broken.
This door has a thumb turn cylinder installed and will need to be removed to take the other handle off. If your cylinder is a standard cylinder you won't have the remove it. Remove the cylinder screw at the side of the lock and remove the cylinder.

Here you can see the centre of the spring cassettes more clearly. Slide the new cassette on to the handle spindle and refit back in the door. Slide the other spring cassette on the other side of the spindle. Refit the other handle. Refit the handle screws and hand tighten. Refit the cylinder and screw it in place. Tighten the handle screws fully.
And thats it job done.

Please give a thumbs up and hit that subscribe button. Thanks for watching.
