How to Prevent a Wet RV Slide Out Floor - UPDATED

Follow
Just Plain Common Sense

How to install an RV Slide Out Ski. I accidentally discovered that slide out floor was soggy. I looked on the roof and the sides for bad sealant but it wasn't the problem. The water was wicking up into the floor from the sides of the slide out because there isn't a properly engineered drip edge on this type of slide out. This is apparently a industrywide problem. Nearly every RV I walked by today has this same design; regardless of the initial cost of the RV. Shame on the RV Manufacturers for designing a product to FAIL! This is Engineered to Fail!. There can't be another explanation. Two pieces of plastic that likely cost pennies could prevent Hundreds of dollars in repairs and downtime. How about installing the slide skis when you manufacture the RV or design a better product in the first place. Again, this is not a Forest River or Prime Time problem alone; IT IS INDUSTRYWIDE!

I was unable to locate the slide out skis or skids online. You can call my dealer direct and possibly order the parts. You will need a left and right side. They are different!
