I think we're all aware of how insane traveling is at the moment. Airlines and airports (like everyone) are understaffed, and this is causing an excess of lost luggage. Flight delays and staffing issues are something you cannot avoid. Choosing not to check a bag is something in your control that you can do to try to make your travels happen more smoothly in times like these.

There's no guarantee that if you bring a carry on you won't have to check it. For example, many European airlines have an 8 kg weight limit on carry on suitcases. Even if your bag is the correct dimensions and size, if it's overweight you'll have to check it. These are my tips on how to pack for 2 weeks in a carry on suitcase. Hopefully you can use these to avoid checking a bag, or to ensure you're not in a real pickle if you do check your bag and it gets lost.
