In this video, Sarah is showing us how to make Instant Ice, with science!

Instructions:
You will need:
Bottled water
Glass bowl
Plastic tray
Ice cubes
Freezer

Place the bottled water in the freezer for two hours. Remove from freezer before they freeze. Place the glass bowl upsidedown on a tray. Place an ice cube on top. Slowly pour water on top and observe!

✨What’s the Science✨
The ability to make instant ice in this experiment is dependent on a process called nucleation (one small action which starts a chain reaction). Your bottled water at the start of this experiment doesn’t have any particles to trigger the nucleation process, but once a small crystal particle is formed, these can gradually spread. When you pour the water, the ice cube triggers a chain reaction whereby ice crystals form faster than they normally would, resulting in instant ice!
