How to make a stand with an adjustable arm - very creative DIY

Dialed In DIY

Free and easy! How to make a DIY adjustable stand with an articulated arm from repurposed materials. The best part is that it looks and works like a commercial product. I will show you a GREAT technique for upcycling materials to make your own parts; it is quick to learn and easy to do (see below for more information); there are so many projects where this can come in handy. This particular homemade stand can be used for mounting a microphone pop screen, an LED light, a magnifying glass and much more (I used it for the pop screen). Once I added the popscreen / pop filter to this stand I had a microphone set up that looked like it was right out of a recording studio or broadcast booth.

This project required 4 screws, 7 locking washers, 4 split washers, 3 small nails, 3 wing nuts, 1 regular nut, 5 rubber washers, some plastic tubes / pipe, a wooden dowel rod, Plaster of Paris and a small tin / container. Once completed the base can be strategically placed out of the way at the back or side of a desk (or table, etc.) and the arm will adjust to be right where you need it. When you are done the arm can be repositioned out of the way until you need it again.

We used Plaster of Paris for stabilizing the base and in the video I refer to information shared in prior videos such as the "Great Craft Project Fun Family Activity"    • Great Craft Project for the Holidays ...

The "Technique" used for creating the arm pieces is a Dialed In version of the method used in two previous videos:
