If you are an older man, I want to tell you how to lose weight and get 6 pack abs that show. As you get older past your 40’s, it can be a little more difficult to burn fat and lose weight than if you were in your 20’s. Now you can work your abs to build your 6 pack, but you are not going to see your abs unless you focus on one of the most important steps. Let’s get into how to lose weight and get 6 pack abs for older men.

Tip #1: CLEAN UP YOUR NUTRITION. This is the absolute first thing you need to focus on when you are trying to get abs that show after you lose the weight and belly fat. Replace all the processed foods, sugars, and bread with whole foods. You want to have lean proteins, complex carbs, fibrous carbs, and essential fats.

Tip #2: INCREASE HIGH INTENSITY CARDIO. I want you to do all out sprints, whether on a bike or actually running. I recommend doing a 20 second all out sprint then rest for 40 seconds, and do this for 5 intervals to start. Make sure to warm up before you start, to make sure you do not hurt yourself during the high intensity sprints.

Tip #3: RESISTANCE TRAINING. Resistance training is not just for building muscle, it is for burning fat as well when you are doing compound exercises. This will help increase your growth hormones, and aim for 34 days of resistance training per week. When you pair this with the nutrition and the high intensity cardio, you are going to see great results.

Now you need to make sure that you are working your abs because you don’t want to just have a flat stomach. I recommend working your abs 3 times per week in a circuit fashion. I want you to do 4 exercises and I want you to do them for 40 seconds then rest for 20 seconds. I want you to do 23 rounds of this.

Exercise #1: REVERSE CRUNCHES. Full extension reverse crunches, bringing your knees up to your chest rotating your hips at the top of the movement. Hold the contraction for a couple of seconds then extend your legs straight out, making sure not to have your feet touch the ground.

Exercise #2: CRUNCHES. Weighted crunches have more benefits. Hold the weight above your head, and really contract your abs on the way to the top. Breathe out as you are contracting your abs on the way up.
