how to cook chicken for pets / Healthy home cooked food for dogs/Protein packed meal for labradors

Chicken is considered a lean meat , which is easily digestable form of protein and it provides many benefits to our canine companions. Dogs need protein as a main energy source, and chicken provides that boost without a big calorie count. It builds lean muscle mass in dogs and delivers Omega 6 fatty acids that help sustain healthy skin and shiny coats. It’s also a great source of essential amino acids and glucosamine, which helps promote bone health.

*According to Founders Veterinary Clinic, your dog should have about ¼ cup of meat protein per 10 kg of body weight per day.

Boiled chicken is the best option, whether your pup is sick or you’re just looking for a healthy food to feed your dog. In fact, boiled chicken is filled with protein, vitamins, and minerals that your dog’s diet requires and is gentle enough to feed to dogs with sensitive or upset stomach.

NOTE IMPORTANT –

Dogs have been eating bones for thousands of years, and most of the time, they process them just fine.Typically, chicken bones will dissolve once they hit the stomach—before they have a chance to become dangerous. Most times, dogs are able to pass chicken bones uneventfully. Other bones, such as beef and pork bones, can cause significantly more distress and disease. However, there are some potential hazards for dogs that are tempted to eat chicken bones.

Be sure to take cooked chicken off the bone. Cooked chicken bones splinter [ a small thin sharp piece ] easily, which can cause choking or a gastrointestinal tract puncture.. Chicken bones, uncooked or cooked, should always be avoided as they can cause a gastrointestinal blockage or perforation. Chicken bones are dangerous to dogs because they are so small and can splinter so easily. These lightweight bones break into shards that can tear the throat or puncture through the intestines. The bones and their pieces can also quickly lead to choking and airway obstruction in dogs.

Some dogs are allergic to chicken – If your dog has a reaction to eating chicken e.g. skin lesions, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. please discontinue the chicken and contact your veterinarian. Some dogs have food allergies or sensitivities to chicken (like they can with any other food).

Your dog should definitely not be eating raw chicken. Feeding your pup raw chicken puts them at risk of contracting salmonella or other bacterial infections.
Feed your dog boiled chicken 1 2 times a week. Unless your dog has a digestive issue like an upset stomach, refrain from feeding it boiled chicken more than twice a week. This will keep your dog from developing picky eating habits or becoming reliant on the chicken.
