If you want to set up a bioactive vivarium, you're going to bump into isopods at some point or another. Alongside springtails, they are the true workhorses of a vivarium clean up crew. Their main drawback is their cost, so any vivarium keeper will soon want to know how to breed them sooner or later; doing this can save you a lot of money in the long run.

There are many ways to culture isopods that you could follow and have success with, but what I show in today's video is the method that works for me: it's cheap, simple, and should be easy to replicate. Get yourself a tupperware, load it with organic matter, seed it with a few pioneer woodlice, and you're good to go!
