This coffee table is built from two large slabs of walnut. This video covers slab flattening, jointing slabs, and how to use epoxy to build a oneofakind coffee table. I have seen many live edge table videos out, but I wanted to showcase what can be done with a bookmatched set. There's nothing wrong with a slab coffee table with hairpin legs attached, but I think this is a more elegant solution.

The grain pattern is the showstopper for this piece. And I only used a minimal amount of black epoxy to fill the knots and voids in the slabs. The black walnut looks fantastic, and the base that holds it lets it shine. I attached the base using threaded inserts, which will allow for some expansion but should keep the slabs flat over time. I finished the tabletop with Rubio Monocoat Pure, which will protect this piece and bring out the richness in the wood.
