Learn how to Bonsai a Fuji Cherry Tree KojoNoMai (Prunus Incisa)

In this video I show you how to Bonsai a Fuji Cherry Tree from garden center material. It is a lot easier than you think!

I first show you how to work on the roots of the tree so that the roots grow nice and radially. I then wire the tree into the pot and show you how to properly prune and wire the branches.
(The wire can be removed once the branches have set in place)

Fuji Cherry trees make excellent bonsai due to their small leaf foliage and small and beautiful cherry blossoms in spring and are then followed by small black fruits!

How do you then care for a Fuji Cherry?

After you have worked on the tree, it is important that you keep the Bonsai tree well watered and do not fertelise until 6 weeks after repotting. Cherry trees like the Fuji Cherry and Brush Cherry like to be in consistently moist and humid conditions and benefit from being watered with distilled water rather than hard tap water.

The soil should be kept evenly moist but never waterlogged. As a general rule, allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings.

Also! This is an outdoor tree and I recommend keeping it outdoors throughout the growing seasons.
