On November 21, 1721, Tsar Peter I Romanov received from the Russian Senate the title of Emperor of All Russias and the epithet of "the Great". The sovereign has just won a resounding military victory over his formidable neighbor, King Charles 12 of Sweden.
Russia thus earned the status of the first military power in the north, which caused surprise in Europe. It must be said that a few years ago, the land of the tsars had only a disorganized army and not the slightest warship.
