The periodic combustion cycles of a 4piston #engine create torque fluctuations that generate torsional vibrations in the kinematic chain. The resulting noises and vibrations, such as gear shift rattle, body shake and vibrations caused by load shifting, result in a loss of acoustic comfort and driving comfort. For this reason, the objective sought with the development of the dualmass flywheel was to isolate the torsional vibrations generated by the rotating mass of the engine from the rest of the kinematic chain.

Thanks to its integral spring and damping system, the dualmass #clutch flywheel absorbs these torsional vibrations almost entirely. The result is good vibration isolation.
