A transfer case or transfer box is a device with a set of gears. It transmits power to both the front and rear axles of a 4wheel drive vehicle. It allows the vehicle to operate under four different transmission modes. The modes are twowheel drive with low and high torque transmission and fourwheel drive with low and high torque transmission.
