On 16th December 1944 with Allied forces facing the Siegfried Line on the borders of the Third Reich, Hitler launched his famous 'final gamble in the West', a counterattack through the Ardennes designed to smash through the unsuspecting Allied lines and drive on to Antwerp.

Leading his formations would be the formidable SS Kampfgruppe Peiper. Standing in their way were the men of the 394th Infantry Regiment's I&R Platoon, whose tenacity on that day would lead them to become the most decorated platoon of WW2.
