The house takes advantage of the view from the hill. Japanese timber is used abundantly in the structure, floors, and ceilings, and the walls are made of porous wall material with a humidity control function. The house maintains comfort even in Japan's humid climate by allowing air to circulate throughout the house without partitioning the rooms. The windows are made of wooden sashes with high thermal insulation. In winter, the house is heated by a passive solar system with underfloor heating and a woodburning stove. The house blends in with the rich natural environment, allowing for energyefficient, relaxed living.
