There's one thing that keeps coming up for me throughout this intense period with Caroline, and that’s how primal it seems our need to feel in control of the world around us which, of course, is an illusion at best.

While we have to look this insidious disease squarely in the eye, day after day, knowing that we are largely powerless over it, there are times where we can at least relax into rituals of care that make everyone Caroline, as well as us humans feel like we are taking it back.

That’s where our house call vet, Dr Liz Fernandez, comes in. On our therapy days, she works on Caroline, and the benefits are instantly recognizable. Through Acupuncture, Cold Laser Therapy, and a concentrated hour of loving care, we can end the day feeling blessed for the time we have not dreading the time we won’t have.
