At the height of the Second World War, Nazi Germany was willing to do anything to maintain its grip on the conflict. With the full power and industrial strength of the United States now poised to meet the Wehrmacht on the battlefield, Hitler sought secretive means to gain an advantage over this formidable opponent. One such method, was espionage. Operation Pastorius was a very ambitious German sabotage plot designed to sneak several agents into the United States with one goal destruction and mayhem.
