While making the drive from Phoenix to Tuscon we kept looking at Picacho Peak and thinking..."we're gonna climb that one day".
So one day we decided to make it a reality and planned an adventurous 18 hours.

After work, we packed up our car and head to Picacho Peak State Park Campground by nightfall. We wanted to spend the night near the trail so we could start first thing the morning. This was we could beat the crowds and the summer heat.

We parked by Calloway Trailhead and made our way up to the summit using Hunter Trail. We picked Hunter Trail over Sunset Trail because it's shorter and steeper.

The hike was challenging but fun. Even if we had a few mishaps by the end.
