In this episode I provide the history of the Volkswagen New Beetle, which included the word 'New' in the model name since the original Beetle was still in production in Mexico when it debuted in 1997. The New Beetle looked both retro and futuristic, and was highly favored by women for its cute looks. It ultimately became a niche car since it wasn't a crossover or SUV, and soon dropped sales, leading to its replacement in 2011. The replacement Beetle, dropping the 'New' from its name, looked a bit less retro and a bit more masculine, but its sales never approached the peak of the New Beetle, and was cancelled by 2019, leading to the end of the most successful model name in car history.
