HD Ford 300 build Part 1

Follow
New Vintage

Part 1...
Partially tearing down an HD Ford 300 / 4.9ltr inline six from a 1966 F600. This engine came with a forged steel crankshaft and the heavy duty 2.5" exhaust manifold. HD 300 engine purchased near KC Missouri for $150
Also I am reworking the head for better torque and flow. The head is off a 240 / 3.9ltr with approx. 60K original miles that was removed from a 1966 F100 pickup truck. 240 engine purchased in Jefferson City Missouri for $160
The completed engine will sport the HD 300 forged crankshaft with original block bored .030 over, a matched / ported / polished 240 head for a slight gain in compression and better lowmid range torque, a Comp cams 268H camshaft, new SI valves (slightly larger intake valve) hardened exhaust valve seats, 1.6 roller rockers, Offenhauser DP 4bbl intake manifold, stock heavy duty exhaust manifold and topping it off with a Rochester ...yes, a Quadrajet.
That is the plan now, but things may change along the way. All in all the build is not intended for racing but rather for better performance in general (and possibly, possibly better longevity and economy)
The engine will live it's early life in a 1977 F150 4X4 backed by a NP435 transmission until a more suitable 78' F250 or 79' F250/350 Supercab becomes available. All footage is from summer of 2017 to summer 2018. I will provide more details as the build progresses. More to come....
