In this video, I make a 12 inch handscrew clamp for only five dollars, using some scrap maple and $5 worth of all thread and four 1/2 inch nuts. Although the hardware configuration is not ideal, the action of the clamps still works pretty well. There are compromises for keeping the budget to $5. I pose the question: is it worth building these or is it better to buy a cheaper store bought version? Ultimately, only you can decide for yourself. For me personally, I share with you my thoughts after building this five dollar clamp. These are fun to make as a personal woodworking project but it may not be worth producing these in any real quantity, as I explain in the video.
