Hack your tools. This string trimmer hack turns a flawed lawn care tool into an awesome destroying machine (instant mulch!). Yes, my inexpensive Harbor Freight string trimmer quit working right so I hacked it. With this mod it now works better thank my Black & Decker string trimmer (check out the side by side comparison in the first demo / test). This machine modification is easy & doesn't cost much. In this video I even turned small tree branches into instant mulch; something this trimmer could never come close to doing before. I expected this to work well but it is awesome beyond my expectations.

Key materials:
1. 4 strand, 20 gauge, galvanized utility wire/cable (found in the hardware section of a local hardware store)
2. 1/2" (12.7 mm) Grommets. I used Gardner Bender part # GHG1550 (found in the electrical section of a local hardware store)

While I've had allot of fun testing, modifying & testing this hack even more I would be remiss not to mention again the dangers of this sort of machine adjustment. You could damage the trimmer or possibly even get hurt if you are not very careful. Always wear the necessary protective gear. Know your surroundings and watch your angles. Don't try this around people, animals or delicate items (ex. decorations). There is a risk of dislodged, flying pieces of steel cable (so be cautious and prepared at all times).
