There were fifteen or twenty red guavas harvested in earlier days and left on the cupboard at our home. They were all ripen. If the jam or cordial are not prepared out of red guava It is not easy to keep them for a long period because they are not like white guavas. They can’t be stored at least for like two to three days. I scarped the guavas and got the pulp without seeds. The pulp should be boiled along with sugar, salt, water and some lime. The mixture would turn out to dark red. This is how we can prepare guava cordial. That looks so pretty! For the very first time I am going to try making cotton candy using guava cordial. The sugar ball made as a ring should be twisted like the number eight (shape of number 8) and pulled out again and again to turn all into fine strings. Among hundreds of fine strings, they broke into smaller strings one by one. It reminded me how the strings of the Veena break. Guava flavored Cotton candy! Amazing! I did it!
The jelly cubes made out of red guavas and blue butterfly pea flowers were kept under the sun until it turned into candy. (Dosi) After the sugar inside the cubes melted and condensed, they were almost like pumpkin preserves (Puhul ).
Uncle sumith brought us river shrimps. All the shrimps were attached in a string and it looks like a chain made out of shrimps. That chain gives a very Halloween vibe with the scary shrimps which I was even reluctant to take them to my hand.
Anyhow I wanted to serve them guava cordial before the tea time today since it would be ideal to beat the heat these days. Now I have something to serve them to munch with the drink. The river shrimps were marinated with butter, pepper, salt and garlic. I prepared an appetizer with marinated shrimps after putting them in the oven. I put a corn and three to four potatoes to the oven along with the shrimps to serve them all together. Also, I cut a guava into small pieces to serve them with the appetizer so they could try it with as a pickle. (Achcharu)
Next day, I baked an amazing cake with red guavas. The semolina coconut cake baked in the pot gives a heavenly taste with the creaminess between the two layers made out of semolina and scraped coconut. Also it adds an extra guava flavor with the top coat of sugar mixed with cordial. The surface of the cake was decorated with the fresh guava pieces and it looks like a white canopy. I will never forget the taste of this! Simply it’s heavenly!
