Southern China loves few things more dearly than the sour and fiery combination of pickled chilies and fried meats. For our first meal, we order FIVE different variations of GuangZhou local flavor.

Fresh from the airport we are rushing straight into the street food action, but besides the urge to fill some hungry bellys I want to say THANK YOU in many ways for helping us make this trip a reality.

For the entire world, the years 20212022 were a challenge, there's no doubt about it, but we all have to realize that the average every day citizens of China have lived even tougher lives than most. Things that we will talk about later (in an upcoming video along the lines of "Can You Still Travel in China in 2023?"), regardless of any larger opinions on politics or anything like that, the simple fact of how difficult it is for Li to even make it back home to visit her own family I think it needs to be said immediately HOW excited we are to be on this trip, and again how THANKFUL we are for several situations that have happened to make this trip possible.

Thank you for being a part of any of that for us, this visit is not for the purpose of filming a bunch of videos about Chinese food (although of course I will do that, as it is what I do for a living now), we are so happy to have time to reconnect with family and visit both family and friends whom we've not seen in a long time.

It is a real challenge to stay active online, things here have gotten much more strict in terms of internet security, and so I will answer all your questions and comments soon :). LOCATION:
Google Maps doesn't work very well in China, so... here we go :). We stayed at the SUPER 8 Hotel that was about 2km directly West of the GuangZhou South highspeed rail station. From there, you can take a local bus (3rmb), or a DiDi hail taxi (around 25rmb), and look for the "Important Coffee" cafe (the opening scene of this video). From there, continue walking about 100m to the nearest intersection, and explore any of the 3 branching streets blossoming with street food locations... Our restaurant was about 2 minutes walk past the intersection, a dark yet inviting street on the left.
